Styling Mistakes More Frequent in Small Spaces

The rising costs of houses making it really difficult to own a house in metro cities. Those who are able to find a space on this over occupied land often are forced to adjust in small apartments. With this compromise come really big challenges of redesigning the interiors. When the space is not adequate, even a minute change needs thoughtful consideration before implementation. For instance, in an attempt to enliven the aura of room, you might end up putting so many colors on walls. It would make you miniature nook even smaller. Avoid doing such blunders with the following short guide.

  1. Window Treatments- Heavy drapes devours a noticeable space of room. Thus, people living in small rooms always must stick to light curtains like cotton, linen, or silk. They can work in all seasons. Since, light fabric allows the natural light to come in; they contribute in counting every inch of space.

  2. Furniture- There is no point in buying big chairs with rolled arms. They unnecessarily do wastage of space. Instead, go for straight line furnishing which is not limited to one person only. Scaling is a critical issue in small rooms, so measure it precisely before you get anything inside the house. Like we always say, multifunctional furniture always works like sleeper sofas.

  3. Colors- They help to make a space cozy and inviting but in excess they only cause distractions for the bystanders. And you obviously don’t want visitors to realize the actual size of room. So, better you stick to same colors for the seamless look. Always pick the same shade of base of molding and walls so that everything can blend harmoniously.

  4. Soft Furnishings- Review your needs before you get anything on your bed or couch. Many people end up buying a whole bunch of cushion covers and pillow covers or big carpets which hardly have a need in the room. Such a crowd can’t lend any sort of coziness. So, grab what you actually need and have the space to fit in for an inviting and breathing atmosphere.

If we have skipped any other measure to avoid in small houses, then do share it with us in the comment box below.
